Doodles

Some snaps of mostly gel-pen & pencil doodles.  A few were inspired through a google search of plant cells.  Yes, a little crazy I know but a cell under a microscope dyed with some intense colours can be so pretty.  Plus, I believe everything is art.. Even life itself.

This one needs more work, I am terrible sometimes starting something.. Never finishing it, or come back to it later..

Coloured pencil owl doodle.

Cell inspired doodle but more from the imagination.

Gel pen hearts..

This is one of my favourite doodles.  It is with gel-pens.. Took quite some time to colour but reminds me a little of street-art or graffiti.  Love the intensity.

More from my sketchbook

Just a few snaps.. All of mixed media.  Some inspired by other artists on the web or Instagram.  Some from my own bonkers imagination.

Squirrel sketch:

Sorry about the image quality.. Pics are being taken on my iPhone...

Rose:

Cat (Saatchi inspired artist)

Crazy Sharpie doodle on magazine articles cut out.

On this one.. I used blue paint, inks and pens along with cut out magazine articles for words to jump out.  The butterfly is from a Vogue Magazibe cut-out.  I believe for a jewellery or perfume ad.  Just so pretty.. Must create my own some day.

Flowers:  acrylic paint, pen, pencil.

Pen flowers below..

Sewing ideas and inspirations.

Right, so as autumn is near.. I am just grabbing the last bits of summer while I can.

My plan for autumn is to improve my sewing and art.  I love to push myself and rarely keep still.  So to do some art then sew is a perfect way to unwind.  I am going to try and dedicate a Sunday to my sewing.

My marvellous friend Alice gave me some great material and patterns & tonnes of advice to get me started.  She is a massive inspiration and I can only dream to be that good one day..

As I mentioned I have made a laptop cover and skirt.  Plus I have seen the hem and fixed 2 skirts for a dear work colleague.

I just hope I can get out of my summer rut.

Will definitely add pics of my skirt on the weekend, just need someone to photograph me in it!

The pattern is used is Simplicity 2258 in view C.

I absolutely love it and created it back in February of this year.  More of a spring-summer skirt I have just failed miserably to be photographed in it.

So, this weekend begins my journey to planning my sewing better..

My skirt looks very similar in fabric to the models.  It was just by chance from a purchase in Reading.  But more on that once I photograph it.

Butterfly love

So I just really like butterflies.  Inspired by this vintage style coaster.. I wanted to draw one.  Again, I have been inspired though artists on Instagram.

Here is what I created in my sketchbook using some amazing Derwent and Caran d'ache pencils.

Half way there..

I really like how bright this summer butterfly is. Not sure what type he is though.

Some sketches from my sketch book

Just thought I would share some of my sketchbook drawings.  Some are from inspirations I found on instagram.  So many amazing creative people out there!!

Thought I would add some pics on here as it is my online journal where I can learn and improve from things I have done & add things I want to do.

Shall update more in the future.. As you can see they all differ whether it is a doodle, sketch or colouring in.  Plus I have quite a few sketchbooks on the go...

Quick spring sketch with coloured pencils.  I love the colours.. Done quickly so I am happy with it.

My own doodles with gel pens.  I just love how free I feel creating this.  Makes me so relaxed and happy.

This was inspired by Instagram.  Not sure who from to credit it, sorry.

This is my first attempt at sewing.  The fabric given to my by a great sewing friend, Alice.  I made a little laptop sleeve.. Not the best in the world, but so proud.  Will publish my skirt shortly.

Origami madness.. My little bit of paper craft

Tried some origami to make a birthday pressie stand out.  I think I did pretty well with both plain 80gsm paper and card.  I used a you tube tutorial to create the Omuta Rose.  Shall find this amazing video and post the link later.

I really loved the outcome.  Hope to create some more in the near future.. Ready for some special birthdays and Christmas.

Practice drawing Milo's eye

Using a mix of mediums to draw/sketch beautiful Milo's eye.

Cheeky Milo with my now deceased slipper.

My muse:
Chilled out on a Sunday afternoon!

Hopefully, I will be able to fully draw & paint him.  It will be great to look back on this.  Really enjoying journaling my artistic moments on here!

Happy Monday!

Learning to draw again

After many years of drawing and painting.. Then getting side-tracked with work and stuff.  I have decided to start again.  Sometimes it is best to start from scratch.

I decided to buy a great bookazine called: "Start sketching & drawing today" by Grant Fuller.  My copy was from WHSmith at £8.99.

So far, I have been looking through it and just decided to start from the beginning.  Usually I always jump ahead, but as my main challenge is to draw well again, if not better than before.  Actually, my main challenge is to draw/sketch Milo the chocolate labrador & also paint him.  Therefore I decided to do this properly and start straight at the beginning & learn everything on offer to me.

The book.

The advice & challenge.

What I decided to draw.  Milo's King toy.

What I actually accomplished in a few minutes of sketching with a HB pencil.

Back to the drawing now..

Silver & White doodles on black card

Using a silver marker.

Using a white gel-pen.  It was such a zen experience!

This last one is my favourite. They are not very large.  Around A6,possibly? So they did not take too long.  The gel-pen was more time consuming.

Hope you like them.. A bit crazy I know!

Today, the weather is a bit of sunny spells and rain in the UK.  Quite a good day for being creative indoors.

Have a great Saturday wherever you are in the world! Hope you get to have some creative fun!
